Resetting the PIN

Hi, just a comment about your “I forgot my PIN” reset page. in the instructions, it says to go to “My account” and then “reset PIN” well I may be missing something, but how can you get to “My account” unless you can log in? Well, obviously, if I could go to my account, I would already be logged in with my PIN, and wouldn’t need someone to reset it…

Holds and Searching

After placing a hold & I wish to go back to the search area to find another author, how do I get from the bottome of the “Hold” section back to the “search” area, if I click on “top”, it gets me to the top of the page and there is nothing there to get me back to the “search” area so I can place another hold J

Likes the site

Thanks for maintaining such a great catalog and service. I don’t think the people of Allen Co. realize how lucky they are to have such a wonderful library system!

Holds

Ref: Limited Holds frustrations. Evidently the quota of only five holds is based on economic?budget problems. This of course is not patron friendly and discourages some use of library items. I am finding that many times my holds are restricted due to other holds having hold positions of as much as 50 more and less, which of course there is a very, very long wait often for serval hold items thus restricting capabilities.:( Well here’s an idea: Offer another option as supplemental to the “Hold” option. Allow patrons to place items on “Reserve” with and additional quota, such as ten items (or more?). When the item has been returned and/or is available the patron is notified as usual but itmes “On Reserve” would require the patron to travel to the location (Branch, Main) where the item is assigned, to check it out. This would eliminate the truck and staff expense of delivering items to other branch locations and would insure that a patron would know when an item was availble and be able to check that item out when they arrived at the Main or Branch where it was assigned without the frustration of it being checked out before the patron was able to arrive.:( Time for pickup would be similar to holds (5 days, or 3 days max, etc.)

Also a possible expense reduction may be to send post cards in lieu of letters with envelopes for Holds available notices.

Searching for the next in a Series

I think its pretty good but sometimes if I am trying to find the next book of a series and I don’t know what it’s called I will not be able to just type in Nancy Drew book… You see? I understand that you can’t do everything but you could at least write kid series lists so you can just type in the next book of that series!

E-Books?

When I hear e?books, I don’t think of books on tape, I think of Kindle type. What are the chances of those showing up anytime soon?

Font Size

Wow! I just placed a book on hold and got a confirmation. Thank goodness I know how to increase the size of the web page so as not to strain my eyes to read it. I suppose that everybody that uses the ACPL website and places holds also has the same computer savvy or at least a magnifying lense. I suppose the two thirds of the page that is empty is there for a reason? How about increasing the font size so as to make the site faster, easier, and accessible to all patrons despite vision impairment.
